Ember Saturday Pilgrimage to Caversham: 15 March
A reminder that the Latin Mass Society annual Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Caversham will take place on Saturday (15th March), which is the Ember Saturday of Lent.
We will have the full ceremonies and readings of the Ember Saturday, the best possible liturgical introduction to the spirit of Lent.
It will be a High (Solemn) Mass, the celebrant being Fr John Osman, with polyphony provided by the Newman Consort and the Schola Abelis singing the chant.
The location is the church which houses the diocesan shrine of Our Lady (ie of the Birmingham Archdiocese), a place of pilgrimage which predates the Norman Conquest, and was visited by Queen Catherine of Aragon among many others. It was restored in 1959, and has a very fine Medieval shrine image.
Mass is at 11:30am, all are welcome; the church is St Anne's, in South View Avenue, Caversham, RG4 5AB, which is in the outskirts of Reading.
Here's a map.
