You are seen to be doing something, and however they feel, they will remain loyal.

But the dissidents are encouraged. Hence the recent resurgence of subversive factions such as ACTA? They will badger the Hierarchy that they are well intentioned and will see the light, if not upset.

The assault of the post -Vat II Relativists was effective. Whether from good planning or perceptive intuition, it doesn’t now matter. Begin by disrupting the liturgy. Use this to attack the essentials, the Mass, the Real Presence and the Ordained Priesthood, and then, it is only a matter of time. Water down RE and Apologetics in schools and in one generation, you are almost there – except for a few, call them “reactionaries”, who actually step back, observe, and think about what is happening.

Fanciful perhaps, but if I were a Relativist, sitting in a room planning, that would be the line. What strikes me now is that the degree of secularisation of Catholic lay, and possibly Hierarchical, thinking in the last fifty years is greater than I realised.
Jacobihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04743062941733814176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30490922.post-14923730159074335342014-05-04T01:19:38.999+01:002014-05-04T01:19:38.999+01:00Amen Deacon AugustineAmen Deacon AugustineJARayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18138004129894177863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30490922.post-85408671987248386652014-05-04T00:56:56.324+01:002014-05-04T00:56:56.324+01:00In other words, "conservatives" are just...In other words, "conservatives" are just dumb-ass pew-fodder who pray, pay and obey and can be taken for granted. So nobody needs to worry about keeping them onside. In the meantime, treat the dissidents with kid-gloves because they can make things difficult for us in the press.

We need more bishops with the backbone and common sense of Fabian Bruskewitz. I think wha...Aaah, the "pot of honey"!!!

I think what the Church and most Catholics today have forgotten is the age old principles behind how ideas and actions are encouraged/discouraged.

It is almost established fact that if one maintains friendly relations with a person who engages in evil acts and stay silent about their evil acts, especially in a public setting, then one is condoning that act implicitly. By calling out the idea or act as a sin and even going to the length of cutting that individual off form the community (1 Corinthians 5 anyone?) one applies the double medicine of

1) forcing the other person to rethink their actions and ideas
2) make it clear to anyone observing that the actions and ideas are bad

The failure to do just this has lead the Catholic faithful today to confusion. From the priest to the Bishop, the story is the same. And now even the faithful Catholic thinks this is the way forward. Confusion spreads and better pots of honey are always springing up in the world than the one on offer.
