This admonishment could result in protecting children from being given scandal, or could result in reconciliation of a marriage breakup.
http://www.speroforum.com/a/YUAHKEULPT21/79314-Pope-Francis-in-hot-seat-over-marriage-statements#.WCvK4qIrIWoBai Macfarlanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15349684251087287613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30490922.post-42613741200620047922016-11-15T11:42:36.255+00:002016-11-15T11:42:36.255+00:00Joseph, based on what you have said in a previous ...Joseph, based on what you have said in a previous post, we can now anticipate what will follow (even if you have been wrong in the last part of your statement): "Although it is clear that what the Pope has indicated, in this roundabout way, is not correct, and not compatible with the teaching of the Church, there would be several more steps to go before we could say that the Pope is a heretic. Being a heretic involves stubborn adherence to error after the error has been pointed out by people with the appropriate authority. A process of 'warning' by, say, the College of Cardinals, and a subsequent reiteration of the error on the part of the Pope, would rule out possible misunderstandings of what this or that passage really means, on the part of both sides, give the Pope the opportunity to clarify or recant, and so forth. Such a process is quite unimaginable in the present historical situation of the Church. It just isn't going to happen." Fortunately, the aforementioned process IS imaginable. And it is happening right now - right before our eyes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30490922.post-75570013436273942782016-11-15T05:33:07.646+00:002016-11-15T05:33:07.646+00:00Remember how Jesus responded to those who answered...Remember how Jesus responded to those who answered one of his questions (whether John the Baptist spoke for God) with "We don't know." This is extraordinary. Isn’t this action objectionable from a Christian point of view? Our Lord said in the Gospel of Matthew (18:15) that if we have a problem with a brother, we are supposed to talk with him privately, one-on-one, not publicly.

Cardinal Burke: In the same portion of Sacred Scripture to which you refer, Our Lord also said that, after addressing a difficulty to a brother, individually and together with others, without it being resolved, then, for the good of the Church the matter is to be presented to the whole Church. This is precisely what we are doing.

There have been many other statements of concern regarding Amoris Laetitia, all of which have not received an official response from the Pope or his representatives. Therefore, in order to look for clarity on these matters, three other Cardinals and I used the formality of presenting fundamental questions directly to the Holy Father and to the Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith. No response has been given to these questions either. Therefore, in making public our questions or dubia, we are being faithful to Christ’s mandate to first talk with a person privately, then in a small group, and finally, taking the matter to the Church as a whole."
Roberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01158923307465346376noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30490922.post-71347711613382962702016-11-14T21:35:43.811+00:002016-11-14T21:35:43.811+00:00Perhaps the Pope refused to answer because he sees...Perhaps the Pope refused to answer because he sees the Dubia as a threat. A theological and canonical game of chess. I don't quite know why the Cardinals had to use the qualifying remark "based on Sacred Scripture and on the Tradition of the Church" several times with reference to John Paul II's writings; it's as if they are laying down the gauntlet. Which, rightly, I'm sure they are (if reading beyond the platitudes), especially by releasing this.
