You don't have to be a philosopher to grasp that rather simple idea.

Alternatively, you could start with the CCC which states that active homosexual acts are unnatural and acts of great depravity. They can never be approved. Those so inclined are called to chastity, which some follow although they get precious support.

Finally another non-philosophical point. 99.0 % + of people now and throughout the 7K years of Judeo/Catholic writings, have considered active homosexual acts as repugnant. Edward Hackett whose conniption was linked above is, but he has a little trouble with the concept of analogies, "[Swinburne] medicalized being gay in the same way that phrenology medicalized racism" makes no sense whaever - perhaps he meant that Swinburne medicalized homophobia?
In any case, he seemed to have thought "Yeah. I know," was a convincing argument of some sort.
I though Rea's statment was masterful, he could have a career as a spin doctor.
Who can argue with regretting that ones fellows were hurt?
And one could easily argue that the society's "failure" to model, (as elementary school teachers like to say,) "the values of diversity and inclusion," were in its having a hissy at Swinburne.
If the aim of philosophy is express as little as possible in many words, bravo!Scelatahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08674226359189392827noreply@blogger.com
