In fact, while the child is free to choose its activity, that activity is done in a highly structured way. The Montessori environment is one where the child is calm and controlled and is expected to respect other people and their needs. I am sure Maria Montessori would have been horrified at the noisy, intrusive and anthropocentric children's Masses organized (I hesitate to say offered) today. My son went on to a good Catholic comprehensive where the Masses slowly became more banal and secular - he knows of three sixth formers who still attend church.Joanna Francescahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04129263225442222415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30490922.post-12121249713349672122016-05-22T06:07:22.413+01:002016-05-22T06:07:22.413+01:00My son attended a Montessori nursery for three yea...My son attended a Montessori nursery for three years and I, as a teacher, am familiar with the Montessori method. Children see through this after a certain age and realise if all that a masss is attempting to do is entertain, then there is little point to it. If the liturgy is less demanding than the texts they use in school, they are disappointed. Ultimately, mystery is interesting or becomes interesting.Domhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01378792625661757208noreply@blogger.com
