LMS Pilgrimage to Caversham

On Saturday the Latin Mass Society's second pilgrimage to Our Lady of Caversham took place. The Medieval shrine was visited by people great and small from before the Norman Conquest until the Reformation, including by Queen Katharine of Aragon. The modern shrine, which is a side chapel to the Church of Our Lady and St Anne, was re-established formally in 1958, and dedicated by Archbishop Grimshaw of Birmingham. See its history here.

Today it includes a very fine medieval statue of the Madonna and Child.

Mass was said by Fr Armand de Malleray, and was accompanied by the Schola Abelis of Oxford. Many thanks to the Parish Priest and custodian of the Shrine, Fr Giles Goward.

Here is the Introit, Salve sancta parens.

More photos here. More videos of the chant on the Schola's blog.
