Fr McCarthy's first Mass

This took place today in the charming chapel of the Carmelites of Valpareso, a half-hour drive from the Seminary. These Traditional Carmelites were, like the FSSP itself, brought into the diocese by Bishop Bruskewitz. The monastery and chapel are all new.

The chapel was packed, with the regular Sunday congregation and Fr McCarthy's friends and family.

The Carmelites were behind a grill: the faithful occupy the nave, and the nuns assist at Mass from the epistle side of the sanctuary.

Mass was beautifully executed, with singing by the Carmelites and a small schola from the seminary. Before Mass the nuns and this schola sang the Veni Sancte Spiritus, and after Mass the Te Deum, in alternation, and extremely well, creating a very moving effect.

More and better pictures will be available after my return.
