Mass in Chartres Cathedral Crypt

IMG_0717
I've had various technical problems, which I won't bore readers with, but here are some photos of the final Mass for the British chapters. For the first time, we were able to organise a Solemn Mass. We had the use of the crypt chapel of the Shrine of Our Lady Sous Terre, the most ancient shrine in the Cathedral (and, according to legend, the world), which also houses the relic of Our Lady's garment, the 'Sancta Camisa', which has been venerated here since the 11th Century and somehow survived the French Revolution. Our celebrant was Fr Mark Withoos, who was the chaplain to the British 'Juventutem' chapter, the Chapter of St Alban.

It was a wonderful send-off for the return journey. More photos here.
