Requiem in Our Lady of Lourdes, Uxbridge, on Saturday 5th

A privately-arranged Traditional Requiem Mass (for a member of my own family) will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes, Uxbridge, this Saturday (5th April) at noon. Everyone is welcome.

It will be accompanied by a small polyphonic group singing Lodovico Viadana's Requiem. Viadana was a Franciscan friar, composing in the early 17th century. I've never heard of him before, so it will be a new experience!

The music will be performed by Cantus Magnus under Matthew Schellhorn.

Mass will celebrated by Fr Nicholas Schofield, the parish priest. The church is easy to get to and rather nice. It's where the Chesterton Mass took place last year (and will again this year, on Sat 2nd August).

The church is on the Osborn Rd (or, more simply, next to the A4020), and the post code is UB8 1UE. Click for a map.

  1. Lovely church. The other modern, as they would say on the NLM blog.

  3. Apart from his Requiem, Viadana composed a very short, simple & lovely 4-part Mass "L'Hora Passa"
