Me on Newsnight: last night

Last night I was, briefly, a talking head on Newsnight, talking about Pope Francis. The main problem was to get the presenter - and, I suppose, the audience - to have the smallest understanding of the concept of Catholic doctrine, what the Pope's function is, and what schism means. That didn't really leave much time for anything else.

In the UK you can see the whole programme online here, from 18:30 - 22:16 mins:

They've put a little clip on Twitter:

Maybe someone can let me know if the whole thing goes up on YouTube.

  1. I was pleasantly surprised to hear your dulcet tones, out of the blue, on the Today Programme on Radio 4 this morning and now realise it must have been a sound clip from Newsnight. I suspect like numerous others who read your blog, we don't do television in our house, therefore don't pay a licence and therefore would be breaking the law to attempt watching on bbc iplayer. So would also be interested to hear if it ends up on YouTube!

Unfortunately, the link to the whole programme goes to a BBC error page...

Even though I have manage to find the page, the recording cannot be seen outside UK. It could be really helpful if someone from UK will put it on YouTube (or on Gloria TV).

  5. It once again showed how badly briefed the BBC are when it comes to religion. To suggest, as they did, that the disquiet amongst Cardinals is purely due to the suggestion of having some married priest was arrant nonsense. Do they not have a Rome correspondent who is in touch with what is going on?
